Microsoft Announces Enhanced Traffic Features for Windows Phone Maps

Windows Phone Maps

Microsoft on Thursday announced that, thanks to Nokia and its Bing team, it has enhanced the traffic report features in its Windows Phone Maps application. ?Depending on where you live, you might see highways and major roads change color,? Microsoft?s Maps program manager Scott Borton said in a blog post. ?Green roads are clear; yellow and orange roads are congested. And if you?re travelling on a red road, make sure to bring an interesting friend to pass the time with while you wait in traffic. Black roads are closed. If no roads change color, then traffic information isn?t available for your area.? Those rules now apply to more highways and secondary streets. Borton also said that the new traffic features will launch in the following countries in the coming weeks: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. We?re expecting even more information on map upgrades during Microsoft?s Windows Phone Summit next week, too.
